New Formula Enables More Accurate Estimations for Peak Water Demand

Today’s engineers and contractors face a variety of factors when estimating peak water demand in buildings—green technology, touch-free fixtures, and hygiene concerns just to name a few. But when it comes to these estimations, engineers have had to rely on the same formula since the 1940s.

Next-generation plumbing fixtures require next-generation technology. That’s why a newly developed formula yielding more accurate water demand estimates will equip engineers with a solution to save costs, reduce water use, and prevent bacteria growth. Sloan Chief Scientist Kay Herbert is leading the way with this new formula and recently outlined his thesis in the latest edition of Plumbing Engineer. Read the article to learn how his new formula is a step in the right direction for peak water demand estimation and pipe specification for engineers.
